As mentioned last Monday, the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) was set to release a new I-9 form on February 2, 2009 (today). Better late than never – the DHS announced late last week that it was delaying the release of the new I-9 form for sixty days. Now, the DHS plans to release the new form on April 30, 2009. Until then, employers will need to use a previous I-9 form.
The I-9 form is used by employers to verify employment eligibility.
